The location is central. The suite was excellent. Stayed in a non suite room as well which was good. But no hot water in the women's bathroom. Nor did the window close so it was freezing. Construction right outside the windows which isn't great. The general info given by the team was also not the best when compared to the other hostels we stayed at in our trip to Portugal.
The location is excellent, although unfortunately the station is currently (Dec 2023) surrounded by construction sites. The structure is cool but the bathrooms are extremely cold and the common area is poorly used. It feels like a hotel rather than a hostel. In the room the phone charger is at the foot of the bed. In my case the flashlight on the bed assigned to me didn't work. There are private lockers but there are no hangers for jackets.
Stayed here for one night. The location was great as we had to grab an early morning train. The staff are very friendly and enjoyed the free breakfast. We had a private room which was really nice with the loft. Washrooms were very clean and look out on to the train station. Only issue is we are sensitive sleepers and we barely slept with all the noise / light from the street and hallway. It's a great place but tough if you want to prioritize a good night's sleep.
I still cannot believe how cool this place is and that I was able to stay here. Amazing staff, stellar location inside a UNESCO World Heritage Site, centrally located in Porto (literally a stones throw from anything). My friend and I stayed in a private room with shared bathroom. The bathrooms were clean, well stocked, and close to our room. The room basically feels like you're staying in a world class hotel. Lofted ceilings, sitting area, huge windows. I cannot wait to come back here!
Better than expected. I worried about noise before booking reading some reviews, but the window seems quite thick and I never got bothered by any noise. I love the space of the loft in the lobby. The breakfast was okay. Maybe more types of bread like croissant and eggs could be added.
I guess coming from Home Lisbon hostel, I expected people to be welcoming and social but I didn’t really experience that. No one in the very nice female only dorm talked to me and when I tried to some gave me stares. Staff- I felt very dry on arrival. I just didn’t like the vibe. The facilities are extremely nice. The water is hot and I loved that. I just felt isolated. Everything has an extra charge to it which was not the case in Lisboa. You already know that you serve foreigners so I don’t get the tax. Towel, key- literally everything is a surcharge. I don’t think I’ll stay here again. It just lacks enthusiasm. It’s noisy and some people can’t turn the damn lights off.
I’ve stayed in plenty of hostels, and this one is by far my favorite. The location is right in the famous train station, Sao Bento and its walking distance to mostly everything you could want to see in Porto. The facilities are kept clean and the staff was unbelievably nice and helpful. The beds were very comfortable and each traveler had their own large locker. A wrist band is used to open doors and to gain access to your personal locker so you don’t have to worry about losing or searching for a key card. I would highly recommend this hostel, and I plan to come back in the future!
Beautiful hostel! I really enjoyed my stay here and I think this was one of my favourite stays. The staff/volunteers were always ready to go the extra mile. Diogo was amazing and he would take out of his own time to communicate with all different people creating very personal bonds. I appreciated his help trying to teach me languages. The breakfast was great, place very clean, bathrooms really nice (although I don’t love the push buttons) and beds super comfy. The construction outside of the hostel is a bit of a hassle but the staff try to assist with this as much as possible.
